Gombak – Malaysia
International Islamic School Kuala Lumpur

“Hey… Aiman!!!”

Hanif called Aiman from a distance.

“Yeeah, wait a second…!”

Aiman walked toward Hanif.

“What is it, Nif?” Aiman asked curiously, because he had been called.

“Look, Ustadz Latief is calling you,” Hanif said.

“What does he want?” Aiman asked.

“Well… you’re told to help clean the mosque,” Hanif replied.

“Huh?! Why me?!” Aiman said in confusion.

“Come on, go there. We’re short on workers!” Hanif said.

“Fine then… I’ll go there right now!” Aiman said with an annoyed expression.

Aiman immediately went to the mosque to meet Ustadz Latief.

Mopping the Floor at Baiturrahman Mosque

“Assalamualaikum, Ustadz,” Aiman greeted Ustadz Latief.

“Waalaikumsalam, Aiman,” Ustadz Latief replied.

“Afwan, Ustadz… did you call for Aiman?” Aiman asked.

“Yes, I called you to help clean the mosque floor… are you willing to do it?” Ustadz Latief said.

Aiman instantly felt annoyed because he was told to help with the cleaning.

Seeing Aiman’s upset face, Ustadz Latief felt uncomfortable and finally made a decision for his student.

“Alright then… if Aiman does not want to help, that is also fine… because cleaning the mosque requires sincerity,” Ustadz Latief said with a smile.

“Hmmmm… alright, Ustadz… Aiman will mop the mosque floor,” Aiman replied.

“Are you serious?” Ustadz Latief asked.

“Yes, Ustadz. Aiman is not lying.”

“Okay… but you must do it sincerely… how can you clean the House of Allah without sincerity?” the teacher said.

“Yes, Ustadz… Aiman is sincere… InshaAllah…” Aiman replied.

“Alright, go and take the mop cloth in the corner… then start mopping from the top floor to the bottom,” Ustadz Latief instructed.

“Yes, Ustadz,” Aiman answered.

Aiman immediately took the cleaning tools, then he went up to the third floor first.

After arriving on the third floor, he directly cleaned the floor from the front area to the back.

“I must be sincere… this is the House of Allah…” Aiman said in his heart.

He kept mopping, floor by floor, starting from the front, then moving to the middle, and continuing to the back.

“Huh… this is tiring… mopping is really exhausting,” Aiman complained softly.

“Eh… Astaghfirullah… forgive me, O Allah… Aiman has complained,” Aiman said, and he immediately apologized to his Lord after realizing what he had said.

One Hour Later

“Wow, are you done already, Aiman?” Ustadz Latief asked.

“Yes, Ustadz,” Aiman replied.

“Excuse me, Pak Tarno, may I ask how Aiman’s work is?” Ustadz Latief asked Pak Tarno to make sure the work was done properly.

“It’s good, Ustadz… Aiman did a great job. The floor is very clean,” Pak Tarno said while praising Aiman.

“Waaah… great! That’s how it should be! Later, Ustadz will tell your parents about this, so they can be proud,” Ustadz Latief said.

“Please don’t, Ustadz… Aiman is embarrassed,” Aiman replied.

“Alright then, go now. Your friends are already waiting for you,” Ustadz Latief said.

“Yes, Ustadz… Assalamualaikum.”

“Waalaikumsalam,” Ustadz Latief answered.

Aiman immediately left and excused himself.

One Month Later

“Hanif, how many Juz have you memorized already?” Aiman asked.

“Hmm… I have memorized Juz 1, Juz 2, Juz 3, Juz 29, and Juz 30,” Hanif replied while trying to remember.

“Waaah… that means you already memorized 5 Juz… MasyaAllah… that’s awesome!” Aiman said, amazed by his best friend.

“Hmm… what about you, Aiman?” Hanif asked.

“Hmm… I’m still at 2 Juz, Hanif…” Aiman replied while lowering his head because he felt embarrassed that his memorization was still small.

“It’s okay. You can definitely reach 30 Juz… come on, stay motivated! You can do it!” Hanif said while encouraging his close friend Aiman.

“Okay… yes, my King!!! Hehehehehe,” Aiman replied jokingly.

One Year Later

“Yes, Mail… we never expected to perform at such a huge festival, watched by thousands of people,” Hanif said with a happy smile.

“Yes, Hanif… I also never expected to become the school’s representative for such a grand and interesting festival,” Ismail replied.

“What about you, Aiman?” Ismail asked.

“I’m really happy! I can represent the school and be part of the biggest festival in Kuala Lumpur,” Aiman said with a cheerful smile.
